A Creative Summer
It’s mid-July, school’s broken up for summer and it’s time for the Slamseys Summer Challenge.
We started the creative Summer Challenge because so many people on printmaking courses said they weren’t creative or artistic or have any original ideas. The aim of the challenge is to show that everyone can be creative and fill a book with ideas, whether they’re sketches, notes, photos, doodles or a collection of postcards, tickets and other ephemera. It’s about having fun, letting go of our insecurities and focussing on the process, not the result.
CREATIVE SUMMER CHALLENGE 2019
Our challenge this year is to make a regular habit of being creative.
Over the next four weeks, use the Challenge to spark your imagination and build a regular habit of creative practice.
WHO CAN JOIN THE CREATIVE SUMMER CHALLENGE?
Anyone who’s sat with a blank piece of paper and thought “what do I draw/write/make next?”
Families who like a project for the summer holidays.
People enrolled on a course that instructs them to take along a few ideas or a sketchbook to work from.
Art and craft enthusiasts looking for original ideas for their next project – knitters, sewers, photographers, painters, printmakers, potters, bloggers …
Anyone who wants to be creative this summer and needs a little inspiration.
ARE THERE ANY RULES?
No. There are no rules.
DO I HAVE TO SIGN UP TO JOIN THE CHALLENGE?
Absolutely not. If you’d like a reminder, click on the Follow this Blog by Email button to receive an email with details of each day’s challenge.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO FOR THE CHALLENGE?
Each week, we’ll give you ideas and prompts as a springboard for your creativity so you might spend ten minutes or a couple of hours a day on the Challenge. Some days you might just sit in the sunshine and think about the topic.
Use the Challenge to boost your creativity: record the summer, develop a skill or build a bank of ideas for future projects. It could be the catalyst for you to make time for yourself or find your creative outlet.
You may love some of the ideas and hate others, but as part of the Challenge we urge you to consider them all. They’re just suggestions, so it doesn’t matter which direction they catapult you, so long as you do something.
I’M READY TO JOIN IN. WHEN DOES THE CHALLENGE START?
The Challenge starts on Monday 22nd July 2019.
