Well, 2020 was an unusual year! Printmaking classes were suspended for most of last year and I really missed having a barn full of printers being creative and learning new skills. It certainly was quiet. It did give me some time to work on the Mini Screens and to spend some time planning for a new direction for Slamseys Printmaking for 2021…
And changes there will be! I’m about to go on maternity leave for a short while and so there will be no classes for at least the first part of the year. I will also pause making Mini Screens until the spring, while I get to grips with a new pace of life. However, this site will stay live for those of you who are on the lookout for tips and reminders on printmaking techniques, including setting up a home studio for everyone with a little more time at home on their hands at the moment.
You won’t be able to buy Mini Screens via the website for the time being, but you can still view the How To posts on how to use them and you can browse the Design Library. I’m (perhaps naively!) hopeful that I will be able to find some time over the next couple of months to come up with some new screen designs so when I’m back in the Spring there will be plenty of new stock and designs for you to choose from – watch this space.
I very much hope that a full schedule of printmaking classes will make a comeback in the not too distant future, but I think it is safest all round to wait until lockdowns are a thing of the past and the country is in a more stable position, as I’m not a fan of recurrent and uncertain cancellations.
Although 2021 doesn’t seem like it’s off to the best start right now, I’m hopeful that things are on the up and new and exciting possibilities are right around the corner.
