Printmaking

We love printmaking at Slamseys! It’s such a versatile way to express yourself and explore creative possibilities. All printmaking uses a stencil or a plate to make an image using ink. Prints can be made from a single plate or built up using layers and multiple plates or stencils.

Relief Printing

In relief printing the image is made by inking the surface and pressing a piece of paper onto it. The image will appear white where the block has been cut away.

Drypoint etching

Drypoint Etching

Drypoint is an intaglio printmaking method that involves scratching an image into a plate with a pointed tool. The cut areas hold the ink and make the print.

Screen Printing

Screenprints are made by pushing ink through a gauze screen. The prints are usually strong and bold and can be made on fabric or paper.
